Adults train free the first time — no contracts, no experience needed. Wear comfortable clothes and arrive ten minutes early. Children begin with a paid assessment class, which Sensei Ruth schedules personally by phone: (310) 463-2385. Students may train in more than one program — adult Jiu-Jitsu runs directly after adult karate on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Program Placement

Which class is right for you?

Whether enrolling a child for their first martial arts class or starting as an adult, training is structured to ensure every practitioner receives age-appropriate, technique-focused instruction alongside peers at their skill level.

Youth & Children: Children can start at age 5, and every child begins with a paid assessment class rather than simply enrolling. Sensei Ruth and Sensei Avi teach your child and evaluates two things: whether they’re ready to train and which group they belong in. Students who are ready are placed in their belt group: White, Yellow to Purple, Brown & Black.

Adult Practitioners: Adult karate is all levels, Monday through Thursday, 7:45–8:45pm. No prior experience or physical conditioning is required before starting. Every adult karate class is taught personally by Sensei Avi.

Multi-Program Training: Students are welcome to train in more than one discipline. For instance, adult Jiu-Jitsu runs directly after adult karate on Mondays and Wednesdays (8:45–9:45pm), allowing adults to practice both striking and submission grappling in a single evening.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions.

What are your class times?

Classes run Monday through Friday in the evenings, plus Sunday mornings. Youth karate is grouped by belt level — white belts at 4:45pm Monday and Wednesday and 5:30pm Tuesday and Thursday, yellow through purple at 5:30pm Monday and Wednesday and 6:15pm Tuesday and Thursday, and brown and black at 7:00pm. Adult karate is at 7:45pm Monday through Thursday, all levels together. Jiu-Jitsu runs Monday and Wednesday evenings and Sunday at noon, and MMA is Friday at 4:30pm. The full grid is above.

How much do classes cost?

Tuition runs $200 to $250 per month depending on the program. There’s no contract — it’s month to month and you can cancel at any time. Karate students can add Jiu-Jitsu and MMA classes for an additional $100 per month.

Do you require a contract?

No. Tuition is monthly and you can cancel at any time.

Where are you located, and where do I park?

Rokah Karate is at 9218 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90035, in the Pico-Robertson area. Street parking is available on Pico and the surrounding side streets. Meters run until 6pm and parking is free after that, so for most evening classes you can park at no cost.

How do I sign up?

Call (310) 463-2385 and we’ll arrange your first class. Adults can start with a free class — tell us which evening works and come in. For children, the first step is an assessment class, which Sensei Ruth schedules personally by phone.
